A great class tonight and a real improvement of speed, accuracy and hand-eye coordination by Will. We went through hubud of which there are some 40 variations, but we concentrated on 1 for 1 initially and then 1 - 4 - 1, Double twos, Triple twos, 5 for 5 with paglibuts, pa-awas, inside hubud. These drills really improve reaction time and accuracy and actually slow normal movements down due to the loop drill building in excellent reaction to movement and feel. I have always said that hubud is like seeing with your hands as it's sometimes too fast for your eyes to compute and instead you can feel your opponents energy as they try to hit you with various strikes. But also because hubud uses a plethora of many different attacks, it successfully drills in reactions to pretty much anything someone throws at you. Looking forward to this weeks class with more of the same great techniques to teach. Ouss...

Welcome to the Essex Fighting Arts Blog. I always try to give an overview for each class with a re-cap of what was taught, terminology & ethos behind the techniques used. As well as any introductions, announcements or fun things that happened during the session. Enjoy! 😉
